This one of the most beautiful rock castles, lies near Česká silnice to the north of the village of Vysoká Lípa following the red markers to the Small Pravčická Gate. Originally a Berkov castle founded in the 13th century. At the beginning of the 15th century it was pledged by the Vartenberk family, and played a role in the wards between the Vartenberks, Saxony and Lusatia. In the early 16th century it was abandoned and fell into disrepair. From Šaunštejn there is a beautiful view of the landscape, dominated by Růžovský vrch.
