Devil Museum

The Devil Museum is located in Úštěk, in the Pikart Tower and the neighbouring Gothic cellar.

In the museum’s own words, its concept is based on "the well-established fact that genuine Czech devils, unlike their fictional counterparts, are known for their warm-hearted nature, cheerful disposition and strong sense of justice. The mission of the Czech devil is to spread love and humour and to rid the human world of evil intentions. So there is no need to frighten naughty children with Czech devils - they have no interest in them anyway...".

Alongside these friendly devils, the museum also features an exhibition of wooden sculptures created by the woodcarvers Věra and Jaroslav Stejný, prints and illustrations of devils by Karel Franta, and numerous children's artworks inspired by famous Czech fairy tales featuring devils.
