Mšenské pokličky

GPS souřadnice:
50°27'19.436"N
14°35'20.096"E

The Mšenské pokličky rock formations (sometimes also called the Kokořínské pokličky) are sandstone towers and massifs located at the mouth of the Kokořínský and Vojtěšský důl valleys near Mšeno. They were formed by the weathering of sandstone rocks, as the harder upper layers, which contain iron, are more resistant to erosion than the lower layers.

Rock domes are a characteristic feature of the sandstone formations in the Kokořín region.

The Mšenské pokličky are freely accessible. You can visit them by following the red hiking trail from Kokořín or the blue trail from Mšeno. There is a parking lot near Pokličky (the nearest village is Vojtěchov). Rock domes can also be found elsewhere in the Kokořín region.
