Doksy Chateau

Doksy Chateau was probably founded shortly after 1553 by Jan of Vartemberk. After the Battle of White Mountain, it passed to Adam of Wallenstein, who sold it in the same year to his nephew Albrecht von Wallenstein. After Albrecht was assassinated in 1634, the chateau became the property of one of his killers, Walter Butler. The Wallenstein family later bought it back and remained there until 1945, when the chateau was confiscated under the Beneš Decrees.

The chateau in Doksy underwent extensive restoration between 2017 and 2019. Around a third of the building was renovated, a multi-purpose hall was created, and the Čtyřlístek Museum moved into the chateau. During the course of the renovation works, builders uncovered several noteworthy features, including a Renaissance portal and a Rococo ceiling.

In June 2020, a new tour entitled "Through the Chateau with the Wallensteins" opened, combining a historical exhibition with state-of-the-art technology such as touchscreens and QR codes. Since the summer of 2023, the chateau has also housed a unique exhibition of vintage motorcycles.
