The Kokořín Château is located in the village of Kokořín, not far from the famous castle of the same name. Unlike the romantic medieval castle, the château is a tranquil country estate that served as the administrative and economic centre of the local estate for centuries. It is surrounded by a park and the landscape typical of the Kokořín region—forests, sandstone cliffs, and deep ravines.

The château is not as well known as the castle, yet it plays an important role in the history of the village and the entire region.

Originally, there was a fortress or a farmstead here that was part of the Kokořín estate. The current château was likely built during the Baroque period, when aristocratic estates in the region were being converted from defensive structures into more comfortable residential buildings.

After Kokořín Castle lost its importance, the farm buildings and the château grounds took over its administrative functions in the village. The château served primarily as the administrative centre of the estate, an economic hub, and a residence for the owners or officials. During the 18th and 19th centuries, it underwent several renovations and took on the appearance of a country manor with farm buildings. Like many other aristocratic estates, it was nationalized after 1948 and used for various public and economic purposes.

Today, Kokořín Château is an integral part of the village’s historical and cultural landscape. The building has undergone partial renovations and is used primarily for private or business purposes.
