To Brandenburg Cave

Duration: 2.5-3 hours

Setting off from the railway station in Staré Splavy, follow the red hiking trail. After crossing the main road, the route leads through the wooded Prostřední Gorge and then on through Vůbčář Gorge to the Nad Černou roklí trail junction. From here, a short green-marked spur leads right to Brandenburg Cave. This is actually a large sandstone overhang, 44 metres long, 12 metres deep and 6 metres high. During wartime, it served as a refuge for the local people, as shown by an inscription carved into the rock.

After visiting the cave, return to the junction and continue along the green trail, which follows the red trail for a short way before turning sharply left. From there, descend gently through Černá Gorge to the Uhlířův důl junction, where you join the yellow trail. This takes you through Selská Gorge and back to the railway station in Staré Splavy.
